At Log my Care, we are unwavering in our commitment to conducting business with integrity, honesty, and ethics. We have a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and bribery in any form, and any violations will be met with disciplinary actions, including dismissal for employees and immediate engagement termination for non-employee staff.

Under the UK's Bribery Act 2010, both giving and receiving bribes are criminal offences, with severe penalties. Additionally, involvement in corruption can lead to unlimited fines, exclusion from government contracts, and severe reputational damage.

Our policy unequivocally prohibits all forms of bribes, "slush funds," and establishes transparent financial records and internal controls. Staff must adhere to this policy and record all gifts, hospitality, and expenses as per our guidelines.

While we prohibit bribery, customary and proportionate practices, such as normal hospitality or ceremonial gifts, are permitted as long as they are openly given and received without the expectation of receiving favours in return.

We emphasise the importance of reporting any suspicions of bribery or corruption, and all staff share the responsibility for preventing and detecting such activities. In cases of doubt, staff should promptly seek guidance from their line manager or the CEO regarding potentially questionable acts related to bribery or corruption.

Log my Care commitments
  1. Under UK law (Bribery Act 2010) the payment or offer of gifts, bribes, or anything of value to encourage someone to perform their functions or activities improperly, or to reward them for already having done so. Bribery and corruption is punishable for individuals by up to ten years’ imprisonment which applies equally to those giving and those receiving bribes. If the Company is found to have taken part in corruption it could face an unlimited fine, be excluded from tendering for Government contracts and face untold damage to its reputation.

  2. Bribes and bribery are forbidden under this policy. No bribes of any sort may be paid to or accepted from customers, suppliers, politicians, government advisors or representatives, private persons or companies anywhere in the world. It is forbidden to establish accounts or internal budgets for the purpose of facilitating bribes or influencing transactions (‘slush funds’).

  3. The Company is required to keep financial records and have appropriate internal controls in place which evidence the business reason(s) for making payments to third parties. All staff must declare and keep a written record of gifts or hospitality given or received and all expenses incurred must follow the Company’s expenses policy.

  4. This policy does not prohibit the following practices providing they are customary in the market, or are proportionate in the circumstances:

    1. normal and appropriate hospitality; and/or

    2. the giving of an appropriate ceremonial gift at a festival or another special time such as the completion of a significant project.

Gifts or hospitality must be openly given and received with no suggestion that a favour is expected in return.

  1. The Company recognises that market practice varies between countries and what is normal and acceptable in one place may not be in another. The Company also appreciates that to refuse a gift in certain circumstances and/or countries could cause offence to our trading partners. The test to be applied in all circumstances is whether the gift or entertainment is reasonable and justifiable.

  2. The prevention, detection and reporting of bribery and corruption is the responsibility of all staff throughout the Company. Staff can report confidentially any suspicion of bribery and may first choose to contact their line manager or the CFO.

  3. Inevitably, decisions as to what is acceptable may not always be easy. If anyone is in doubt as to whether a potential act constitutes or could potentially bribery/corruption, the matter must immediately be referred to their line manager or the CFO.
